The New York Times has announced the launch of T Japan, an international edition of T: The New York Times Style Magazine.

The Japanese-language magazine is published by The Asahi Shimbun Company one of the oldest and largest publishing houses in Japan.  Shueisha Inc., another major publisher in Japan, will collaborate with The Asahi Shimbun Company on T Japan under a sublicense.

T Japan combines original, regional content with translated coverage, photographs and commentary from the flagship edition of T Magazine. It will be published four times per year and distributed throughout the Tokyo metropolitan region. It will be shipped directly to influential members of the Japanese community in the Kanto, Chubu and Kansai regions and preferred customers of FLAG SHOP, a mail order fashion site owned by Shueisha Inc.

Ms. Hidemi Uchida, Editor in Chief, T Japan, said: “I am very excited to launch T Japan.  With many readers here in Japan who are very familiar with fashion, culture, and above all lifestyle, this is the best timing for us to start a publication that combines intelligence and quality. Please look forward to T Japan where we will deliver today’s world from New York and today’s Japan all together in one new magazine.”

“Japan’s international outlook and unique culture make it the perfect place to enjoy the kind of content published in T Magazine.” said Michael Greenspon, general manager, News Services and International for The New York Times. “This Japanese-language edition, with content from the flagship edition of T and original features from the region, is a must-read for cosmopolitan readers in Japan.”

T Magazine is published 15 times a year and is dedicated to coverage of fashion, living, beauty, design and travel. In addition to the United States and Japan, T is also published in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
