Yahoo has decided to publish Yahoo Buzz content on its Yahoo India homepage. India is the first country homepage for this content sharing arrangement.
Yahoo Buzz gets majority of its content from over 20,000 sources . The active publishers presently are Times of India, NDTV, India Today Group, Zee, A2 Media and One India. The selection of posts is based on content and votes received by the readers rather than an editorial selection.
The service is identical to Digg and enables submission of content. India has been selected since more than sixty percent of Internet users are below 25 years of age. This segment is the right audience for social news and networking sites.
The buzz can be about anything — from breaking stories on major news to viral videos on personal blogs. Instead of editors, general people can also submit the stories and “buzz up” the best ones.
First, Yahoo determines the most popular topics that people are searching for on Yahoo!. Then it showcases the most popular stories within those topics, based on activities like voting, commenting, and emailing stories to friends. Stories with most Buzz may be published on the Yahoo! home page — you can impact what millions will see on Yahoo!.
