The Philadelphia Tribune Announces Second Weekly Website Contest Winner

The Philadelphia Tribune, the nation’s oldest and the Greater Philadelphia Region’s largest newspaper serving the African-American community, today announced that James Tolbert, 49, of West Philadelphia has won a Blackberry smartphone as the second-week winner of its four-week-long “Win Cool Stuff” website contest.

Commenting on his win, Mr. Tolbert said”It’s a pleasure to win this contest after 21 years of reading The Tribune.” He described the site as an engaging complement to the traditional paper, both easy to use and interactive.

The campaign, which is scheduled to run through October 8, 2007, prompts visitors to the paper’s website ( to register for a username and password and to sign up for the promotion. A winner for the third week of the contest will be drawn on Monday, October 1, 2007, and will be presented with another Blackberry smartphone. The winner in the fourth, and final, week of the promotion will be presented the iPhone.

The Tribune’s Managing Editor, Irv Randolph, urges contestants to be persistent in registering to “Win Cool Stuff.” He said, “There are many more chances to win, and it is our hope that we engage all Philadelphia residents in this contest.” He continued, “I encourage the region, from its oldest member to its youngest, to visit the Philadelphia Tribune’s website, and see what we have to offer.”
