Sunil Lulla Quits Times Broadcasting, Joins Turner-miditech Venture

Sunil Lulla has quit as CEO of Times Global Broadcasting Company Ltd. Lulla, according to media Newsline sources will join Miditech -Turner joint venture. He boasts over 24 years of experience in Media management.

Before joining Times Group , Lulla worked with leading media companies like Sony and Viacom (MTV). MTV acquired a top music channel position during his leadership. During his stint with Sony TV he produced popular tv shows like ‘Indian Idol’ and ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’.Lulla also served as chief executive of Valuebridge, a consultancy business set up by venture capital firm AtIndia and advertising major HTA.

Apart from the chief executive of, Lulla has served as general manager (marketing) of HMV, country head of MTV in India, director (client services) with J. Walter Thompson in Taipei and vice-president with United Distillers & Vintners. With Lulla on board, Sony will have a head for its various divisions with AXN under Shantanu Aditya’s charge.

Turner International (Turner), and the Alva Brothers (holding company), promoters of one of India’s leading production houses – Miditech Pvt. Limited (Miditech), in December 2007 had entered into a partnership to launch an entertainment channel in Hindi and other Indian languages, targeted at the urban Indian audience.

Additionally, Turner had also acquired a minority stake in Miditech, including all shares previously held by ICICI Ventures. The partners (Turner International & Alva Brothers) are currently seeking all regulatory approvals.

Under the agreement, Turner and the Alva Brothers will each own 50% of the broadcasting venture. The yet-to-be-named entity will leverage the Alva Brothers in-depth understanding of Indian audience’s entertainment needs and Turner’s expertise in operating broadcast networks globally. The venture will be managed by both the partners.

Miditech continues to be an independent content producer, focused on creating winning content for all broadcasters and corporate clients.
