SIRIUS Satellite Radio Pays Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti

Exclusive Metropolitan Opera Radio channel on SIRIUS to feature Pavarotti performances for eight consecutive nights

SIRIUS Satellite Radio’s (NASDAQ:SIRI) Metropolitan Opera Radio channel will pay tribute to opera legend Luciano Pavarotti with eight consecutive nights of some of his great performances from his long and illustrious career at the Met. The tribute will begin tonight at 9 pm ET on channel 85 and continue through Sept. 13.

Pavarotti, who helped bring opera to the masses, was considered to be the greatest tenor of his time. Born in Modena, Italy, the son of a baker, Pavarotti made his performing debut in 1961 as Rodolfo in La Boheme at the opera house in Riggio Emilia. Two years later, he would revisit this part for his debut at the Metropolitan Opera on November 23, 1963. Luciano Pavarotti died earlier today at the age of 71 at his home in Modena.
