Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI) will soon open two new offices in Guwahati and Bhopal. A Press Information Bureau press release on Wednesday said the new offices would be operational by the end of 2008.These two regional offices will be in line with the existing regional offices at Mumbai, Kolkatta and Chennai .
These offices, according to the release would coordinate between Headquarter of Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI) and publishers of the region on the matter relating to registration, title etc. To cater to the needs of Maharashtra State, a Regional Office of RNI is already functioning at Mumbai.
This information was also given by Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, P. R. Dasmunsi in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
