The Rural Marketing Association of India (RMAI) has announced the second edition of the RMAI Awards 2008 for Rural Marketing Works Case Studies Contest. The contest will be for rural initiatives – initiated, actioned or activated between 1st April 2006 and 31st March 2008.
This year the contest will cover 6 categories : I: Best long-term rural marketing initiative ,2: Best integrated Rural Marketing Initiative ,3 : Best innovative Rural Marketing Initiative , 4: Most effective use of event marketing ,5: Most effective use of sales promotion and point of purchase and Category 6: Most effective use of direct marketing print.
Events for each category will be further classified based on population of villages / towns .a.Rural initiatives conducted in strictly rural areas (i.e) in villages below 20000 population and Rural initiatives conducted in small towns and villages with population between 20000 to 100000.
This year there will be only Gold and Silver Awards in each such category, totalling 24 Awards in all.The contest is open to Advertising Agencies, Rural marketing Agencies, Marketing Consultants and Advertisers. A panel of three judges will be evaluating the case studies and the Awards are expected to be given at a function to be held in Mumbai on 22nd December’08.
“The first ever such contest was conducted by RMAI in 2006, which attracted 56 entries from 27 organisations. A book of case studies in Rural Marketing based on entries received at the last contest is under preparation in association with MICA, Ahmedabad. This book is expected to be released during the RMAI Awards 2008 function ,” R V Rajan, President of RMAI, said.
In view of the growing interest in Rural Marketing, Mr. Rajan was hopeful of receiving a lot more entries this year. Tata Shaktee (GC Sheets) is the title sponsor of the Awards this year. Efforts are on to rope in other co-sponsors for this prestigious event.
