RED FM Joins Hands with 'CRY'

Sabko Shiksha, Saman Shiksha! The right to free and equal education to children aged 6-14 yrs is part of a Constitutional promise made to the citizens of India following the 86th Amendment (2001), but how many citizens are aware of their right? This campaign initiated by CRY is about changing people’s attitude towards education and its state in India, so that they stand up and demand their right!

For this cause CRY joins hands with Red FM, Mumbai’s leading radio station, known for its attitude of Bajaaoing issues that affect the common man. Starting from January 14th -21st, 2008 Red FM’s tool of free expression, Red Mike will Bajaao this issue and support Cry’s objective; i.e. To start a campaign to make education free and equal for all children, To Ask people in Mumbai to start paying close attention to what is going on in schools & to Demand action to make government schools deliver quality education to all children irrespective of their caste, creed, race, gender etc.

This initiative has also received support from celebrities like Arshad Warsi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Soha Ali Khan and singer Shaan. Talking in support of the drive, Bollywood actor, Arshad Warsi said, “I want all the children of this country to be educated. Even the government provides free education. Now only the parents have to ensure that their children avail the benefits of this facility!”. All these celebs will be on Red FM to Baajao the issue on the Red Mike and educate people on their rights and how they can demand action.
