TBWA India has poached Rahul Sengupta as National Creative Director, effective 3 November 2008, from his former role as ECD at Lowe.
“I am delighted that Rahul is joining the team. He is talented, ambitious and we have very similar ideas about the kind of agency we would like to build. More than anything what convinced me was his track record of developing big, sustainable ideas on brands – a rare and dying talent in an industry obsessed by scams and one-offs’,” says Shiv Sethuraman, CEO TBWA India Group.
Sengupta has over 15 years experience in the advertising business, most of them with Lowe. He began his career with Mudra, Bangalore and then Bombay before moving to Lowe.
He has authored memorable campaigns such as Titan Fastrack, Tanishq, Indya.com, Maruti Alto, Parker pens, Bajaj Hoodibaba and Wind Biking, ICICI Prudential ‘Chintamani’ and Cadbury Schweppes’ Sport Cola.
Sengupta compared his new role at TBWA to being a cricket batsman: “TBWA and Shiv just threw me the new ball. I’m itching to run in and bowl fast. The brands here are all terrific names. So the Gods and clients willing, we will produce advertising that’s equally terrific.”
Over the past year TBWAIndia has picked up clients such as Playstation, GE Money Wizard, TATA Gold Plus, Polaris, Dabur Consumer Care, Planet M and Procall, among others. TBWA India has over 270 employees across 6 offices in India.
