Over the last ten days, Radio One, in Mumbai and Bangalore, invited listeners to participate in a simple contest that would allow them to win tickets to the screening. The contest received an excellent response and over the ten days, 400 tickets were given away for screenings in Mumbai and Bangalore.
“Bangalore is a burgeoning Bollywood market and as Radio One is the only station in the city that plays Bollywood music, Bangaloreans naturally tune in here for their dose of Bollywood Fataafat ,” Shyju Varkey, Station Head, Radio One, Bangalore said.
Radio One listeners in Bangalore previewed the film on June 18, 2008 in Bangalore. What made this event particularly exciting was that it is the first time a Bollywood movie was showcased in Bangalore before being publicly screened anywhere else in the country. Parvin Dabbas and Vinay Pathak got many laughs when they shared their relief at the fact that the movie was called Via Darjeeling and not Via Agra. The light hearted pair also joined Radio One RJs at Bangalore nightclub Hint, partying the night away in trademark, Radio One Desigroove style, getting up on the bar counter to dance and pour tequila shooters for all present.
“Radio One is positioned as the Ekdum Fataafat station, focussing on providing that instant connect to Bollywood for urban audiences. We are delighted to promote unique ground events such as this one, where audiences get to see a movie prior to its release and that too with the stars present, an event normally reserved only for the glitterati, because it becomes an extra special experience for our listeners ,” Raj Gopal Iyer, Station Head, West, Radio One said.
Radio One has 6 stations operating in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad .
