Bengaluru: Keeping in lines with the spirit of Sankranthi, Bangalore’s Hottest radio station Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM went on a spree distributing sweets and yellu bella to those people who are typically known to be grumpy – a gesture that made people on various parts of the cities smile and let go of their bad temper. “Yellu bella thindu, sihi mathadi” was the message Radio Mirchi spread for this Sankranti.
With a goal to urge people to shun getting disgruntled over trivial issues, Radio Mirchi’s unique gesture for this Sankranthi was all about being and speaking good. With a clear message on their mind and a box of sweets in their hand, a bunch of promoters from Radio Mirchi went around the city pressing people to smile and shove their sulky bad temper. The list included people like street vendors, bus drivers, lecturers, shop keepers, neighbours and even policemen. Though perplexed at first, many people who were given the box of sweets seemed to get the point and were seen smiling throughout.
A policeman who was given the box of sweets shared his thoughts on the initiative, “It is a different kind of initiative, a nice gesture on the part of Radio Mirchi! People often forget that a smile is all what it takes to keep the world happy. With the chaos all around, there is no time for anyone to pass on a smile to another, let alone distribute sweets. I am thankful to Radio Mirchi for coming up with such a good gesture. I am going to pass on the message and a smile to whomever I meet today.”
