The Times Group company Entertainment Network Limited (Radio Mirchi) will be operational in 32 cities by the end of 2007 .Radio Mirchi is currently available in 17 cities.
‘We’ve got licences for 32 stations out of which 17 are already operational.Work on other stations is in full swing .All remaining 15 stations will be operational by the end of 2007.’ Kaushik Ghosh, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Network Limited told Media Newsline.
The network has recently added 7 cities namely Bhopal,Jalandhar,Kanpur, Panji, Patna, Vadodra and Rajkot . Rajkot is the latest station added by Entertainment Network Limited. While Lucknow , Nagpur and Nasik station will be soon on air , Coimbatore, Vijayawada, Madurai, Manglore, Vishakhapatnam, Raipur and Jabalpur etc. stations will be operational thereafter.
Radio Mirchi though primarly airs its content in Hindi but keeping in view the tastes of different regions it has successfully experimented by adding local dialect and tastes in its content.
‘Radio Mirchi is a national Indian radio network and our country is known for its unity in diversity. We’ve a myriad type of national audience .Keeping in view the local tastes and traditions we offer regional ingredients on our platter. While in Punjab we add a Punjabi tinge, Bengauli in Calcutta , a taste of South Indian languages in southern stations and metro styles in metro cities. The idea is to penetrate into a larger audience’ Kaushik Ghosh, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Network Limited said.
Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM’s diverse mix of shows are already catching up with the pulse of different cities . For example Hello Jalandhar, a charged up breakfast show to say hello! to a bright new day; Khoobsurat, for the women of today; Total Filmi, for the latest Bollywood gossip; Bumper2Bumper, a gaming show; Purani Jeans for retro music and Dr. Love, a show which prescribes the best medicines for love related problems.
‘Our plans also include exploring opportunities to become FM radio broadcasters or content providers in international markets at an appropriate time, either directly or through strategic partnerships or inorganic initiatives.’Kaushik Ghosh, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Network Limited said.
