Radio Mirchi, one of the largest private FM radio networks in India with licenses in 32 cities, today announced the winners of ‘Mirchi Freshers 2009’. The winners were awarded the title of ‘Mirchi Fresher 2009’ in the presence of Mr Arun Vijay, Actor, Ms Alisha Abdullah, India’s first woman bike racer. This event was sponsored by Amrutanjan Dragon Liquid Balm and the associate sponsors were I-mint and Reliance Mobile GSM. The program aims to identify and motivate the young and talented freshers.
Colleges in Chennai were shortlisted and the Mirchi team visited these colleges and conducted various rounds based on talent, skill, extempore, mirchiness, spunk and popularity. Out of the many thousand students, the top two winners of this competition were Mr Viraj from Madras Christian College, Chennai and Ms Supriya from GSS Jain College, Chennai, selected by the panel of eminent judges. The winners get a certificate from Radio Mirchi, an opportunity to go on-air with Radio Mirchi and gift hampers from the sponsors.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Reena Kamalarajan, Senior Brand Manager, Amrutanjan, said, “Amrutanjan Dragon Liquid Balm, which offers instant relief from headaches and other cold related ailments, was the perfect choice as sponsor for this youth-associated event, as it offers an instantaneous cure to a generation that lives in a world of instant coffee, instant messaging, instant banking and much more and for whom nothing less will do”.
The famous woman bike racer Ms. Alisha Abdullah gave away the prizes to the two winners. She said, “I am extremely happy to be a part of this event, where the sheer enthusiasm and talent of the participants makes it all so exciting. Thanks to Radio Mirchi and Amrutanjan who has taken this unique initiative.”
Actor Arun Vijay who was the Chief Guest of the event, said, “This event reminds me of my college days and I wish that we had such events then to showcase our talent. My heartfelt wishes to all students for a bright future ahead.” He also added, “Looking at the extraordinary performance of Mr. Raghupathy from NIFT, I would openly offer him an opportunity to act.”
Commenting on the event, Mr Sandeep Sud, Cluster Head, said, “Since the very beginning, the youth have been a key part of our audience and we have created many platforms for reaching out to them. This competition is one such opportunity that not only provides a great platform for college students to display their talent but also provides brands an innovative way to reach out to this segment.”
