Radio City’s Gully Premier League a huge success

The first season of Radio City’s Gully Premier League has become a huge rage all across the nation. We know India is a cricket crazy nation, but with the record numbers that have poured in for Gully Premier League (GPL), the cricket frenzy seems to have hit a new high. Radio City 91.1 FM has received 7000 team entries as of now. GPL is a month long activity with series of matches between different regions of a city across 7 cities. Different regions will compete against each other within the city for their chance to pick up the GPL CUP and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

In Mumbai, with 111 shortlisted teams playing the 1st round of GPL Qualifiers, the matches were carried with great enthusiasm in Bhayander, Vashi, Ghatkopar and Thane. Delhi, Pune and Ahmedabad had 64 shortlisted teams for the 1st round of qualifying. While, Hyderabad and Chennai saw 44 and 32 teams playing respectively. The second round of qualifiers is on 14th and 15th May in all the cities with more teams pouring in every hour.

The popularity of the League has soared so high that calls are pouring from all corners of the country on a possible GPL in their city. The quarter finals are on 21st May. The semifinals and finals will be played on 29th May. The activity is held across 7 cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune. The teams are looking forward to a massive clash with mammoth scores and nail biting match endings.
