Mumbai: Concerned with the depleting green cover in the city, Radio City 91.1 FM has taken on the role of encouraging Mumbaikars to maintain highest level of environmental standards in their localities this World Environment Day.
Through a unique initiative ‘Pradushan Mukt Paryavaran Award’, Radio City 91.1FM is all set to honour the localities observing the best environmental practices and minimum pollution level with the ‘Pradushan Mukt Paryavaran Award.’ The listeners can nominate their areas for this special award by sending an SMS City <space> Area <space> Name to 57007. The nominations would be judged by the Radio City 91.1 FM team on the basis of standards of hygiene and the level of noise and air pollution in the locality.
Based on the transparent judgement procedure, a winner would be announced on June 5th, 2010 to be facilitated with the ‘Pradushan Mukt Paryavaran Award’. The Radio City 91.1 FM team would also identify an area which has not been up to the mark as per the environment standards. A plantation drive would be launched in this region to improve the environment surrounding that locality.
Commenting on the occasion, Ashit Kukian COO and President – Ad Sales, “Each year, World Environment Day provides us with an opportunity to consider the environment in which we live – the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we occupy, cultivate and enjoy. The environment provides us with a quality of life which is often taken for granted. Therefore, we at Radio City through Pradushan Mukt Paryavaran Award would like to drive home the importance of safeguarding the environment around us and rewarding localities that make an effort towards keeping a clean and green place.”
