In the Birth Centenary year of Shahid-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Publications Division has brought out a set of two books Bhagat Singh: The Eternal Rebel in English and Bhagat Singh: Dastavejon Ke Aaine Mein in Hindi. These books were released by Hon’ble Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri P. R. Dasmunsi here today.
In his address he reminded that along with Bhagat Singh there were many other freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation. He said that the Government is planning several events in the coming year to pay tributes to them.
Author of Bhagat Singh: The Eternal Rebel Malvinder Jit Singh Waraich is a well known writer. His book is an intimate account of an enthusiastic chronicler of the revolutionary movement in India, which traces Bhagat Singh’s family background and the nationalistic and revolutionary atmosphere of that time that led him to pursue his fight against the British rule and also against all forms of exploitation.
Bhagat Singh: Dastavejon Ke Aaine Mein is written by Chaman Lal who is a scholar with special aptitude for freedom movement of the country. The book divided in four parts contains rare government documents related to Bhagat Singh, his letters, articles and photographs. Talking about the book he said that the day was also being observed as the 80th martyrdom anniversary of four brave sons of the motherland – Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Lahiri, who played heroic roles in India’s struggle of freedom and smilingly embraced the gallows. Their names will ever keep on inspiring the nation.
Former Member of Parliament and renowned journalist, Kuldeep Nayar was the Guest of Honour in the function. He recalled an incident when Bhagat Singh had said that the struggle does not end with independence and it would go on till there is no slavery and poverty in the world. He called for change for the people at grass root level. Addl. DG, Publications Division, Smt. Veena Jain in her welcome address paid rich tributes to Bhagat Singh. .
