PRSA Announces Call for Entries for 2009 Pittsburgh Renaissance Awards

The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America announces the Call for Entries for Public Relations practitioners for the 2009 Renaissance Awards. The Renaissance Awards is an annual event that seeks to recognize area practitioners and organizations for excellence in public relations campaigns and tactics. The early bird deadline is Wednesday, October 15 and the final deadline is Wednesday, November 5. The ceremony, taking place Thursday, January 22, 2009, will be held at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, in the East Club Lounge at 5:15 p.m.

The entries for the Renaissance Awards will consist of three different categories — Campaigns, Tactics and Awards Honoring Individuals. The campaign entry format is based on research, planning, execution and evaluation. From these, judges will evaluate nominations for more than 40 award subcategories, such as special events, media relations campaigns and direct mail pieces. The tactic entry format is based on planning/content, creativity/quality, technical excellence and results. The individual entry format is based on leadership, scope of professional responsibilities, community activities, accomplishments, and contributions to the profession.

Awards honoring individuals include the Renaissance Hall of Fame, the Renaissance Communicator of the Year and the Renaissance Rising Star
Awards. The top prize at the event is the coveted Renaissance Award and runners-up receive the Award of Merit.

The 2009 Renaissance Awards will be emceed by Andrew Stockey, morning anchor on WTAE-TV Channel 4 Action News. The event will be attended by some of the country’s leading communications professionals, representing global agencies, Fortune 500 corporations and elite institutions of education.
