The ‘Vadodara International Marathon’ is one of the leading International Marathons in India. The previous three editions of the Marathon saw unprecedented participation with the last edition witnessing more then 40,000 runners, of which more than 100 were International participants. A phenomenal 10,000 participants ran the strenuous 21 kms and 15 kms category.
After a multi-agency pitch made by leading names in the Sports Marketing and Management domain, the mandate to handle the prestigious ‘Vadodara International Marathon 2013’ was given to Percept Sport, the Strategic Business Unit of Percept Sports & Entertainment, and India’s primary Sports Marketing and Management agency. Percept Sport will handle the entire 360-degree management of the ‘Vadodara International Marathon 2013’ including re-packaging, profiling, marketing, implementation and operation of the event. The 4th Edition of this event will encompass the ‘7 kms Fun Run’, ‘21kms Half Marathon’ and the ‘42 Kms Full Marathon’.
Located on the Golden corridor of Gujarat, Vadodara, a Tier II cosmopolitan city provides easy access to Central Gujarat and is amongst the fastest growing and most industrialized cities of India today. With a bustling population of 2.2 million, the interest shown by participants over the past 3 years in this annual marathon has shone the spotlight on this dynamic city.
The ‘Vadodara Marathon’ has been actively promoted since 2010 by a group of likeminded city loving Individuals and a core team of over 100 personalities comprising leading Industrialists, Educationalists, Artists, Professionals and Home Makers. The Marathon has seen growing participation from enthusiasts from all over India with the 2012 Marathon witnessing over 5,000 participants who came from different parts of the country.
The core team of ‘Vadodara Marathon’ is now desirous to give the Marathon a True National Status and elevate the event from being city centric to a National event, with a character which is able to showcase Vadodara on a National and International platform with better Publicity, media coverage, participation and major presence on Social Media platforms to reposition the entire marathon to audiences across the country to say that “India’s Best Talent runs in Vadodara”. This would require a partnership with a National level professional agency which not only is focussed in the Media and Advertising domain but also brings its professional skills in the arena of Event Management, specially Sports Management.
A series of pre-event to drive awareness and excitement for the main marathon will span the length of 2013. The first pre-event will be the innovative ‘Midnight Woman’s Marathon’, the first of its kind event in India with an aim towards highlighting issues related to the safety of women in the country. The 7 kms marathon will feature only female participants who will run at the stroke of midnight across the city of Vadodara. This unique and innovative Marathon will serve to motivate women across India and also symbolize the safe environment prevalent in the state of Gujarat.
The ‘Vadodara International Marathon 2013’ will have the presence of top international long distance runners. Eminent personalities from the field of Bollywood, Politics and Sports will also be present to lend their support to this event.
