No Threat to Doordarshan Signals: Dasmunsi

Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Minister P. R. Dasmunsi has said that Doordarshan transmission is not affected by the foreign TV signals although Chinese TV signals are received in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh during favourable seasonal conditions. Similarly, though Chinese radio channels are audible on different frequencies in Arunachal Pradesh, but coverage of AIR transmitters in Arunachal Pradesh has not been affected by Chinese transmitters.

A special package for expansion of Doordarshan and All India Radio Coverage in North East Region and Island territories of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep has been approved by the Government in May, 2006. With the launch of “DD Direct Plus” (free to Air DTH service of Doordarshan) both AIR and TV signals can be received all over the country including NE Region except Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the help of small size dish receive system.
