Nickelodeon's Australian Kids' Choice Awards

Bindi Irwin has cemented her place in the hearts of Aussie kids everywhere winning two coveted blimps at Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia on 10 October. The Australian Kids’ Choice Awards premiered on Nickelodeon Australia on 11 October at 6pm, Sydney Time.

Bindi celebrated big time as she was awarded the prestigious Biggest Greenie and Fave Aussie awards. Other major winners on the night included Hollywood hottie and co-host Zac Efron who took out Fave Movie Star and accepted the So Hot Right Now award for his TV movie, High School Musical 2.

The Veronicas — who performed and co-hosted with Zac — won Fave Band, while Rove McManus took out the Fave Male TV Star award plus the Amazing Celebrity Burp Challenge 2007, beating Andrew G and making him another double winner! Performers Ricki-Lee and Shannon Noll both took home an orange blimp winning Fave Female Singer and Fave Male Singer respectively.

The Kids’ Choice Awards were awash with green goo as the famous Nickelodeon slime rained down upon celebrities — including The Veronicas and Delta Goodrem — and audience members alike.

General Manager Nickelodeon Australia, Katrina Southon said tonight after the show, ‘We set out to make this year’s event the biggest and best Kids’ Choice Awards yet. The kids of Australia, the high calibre of stars as well as the incredible energy in the venue have helped us achieve this — the KCA’s rocked!’

Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards has emerged as one of the biggest events in Australia, boasting a massive popular vote with more than one million votes cast via online and iTV across 18 categories. It is the only televised kids awards show in Australia that gives kids the power to vote for their favourites and honours their opinions with a show filled with the stars they love.
