World TV Expands Content Aggregation Business with Verizon FiOS TV

Wed, 20 Aug 2008 22:06:00

World TV, a division of GlobeCast, announced today that its content and rights aggregation business has expanded, with the initial launch of 14 of its international channels on Verizon FiOS TV.

GlobeCast and World TV are providing Verizon, America’s fastest-growing television service provider, with rights, content aggregation, encoding and encryption as well as fiber delivery (see list of provided channels below). Verizon delivers FiOS TV over the nation’s most advanced fiber-optic network straight to customers’ homes and businesses.

This agreement is proof of World TV’s success as a source of international content for all types of television platforms in North America.  World TV has access to multicultural content from five continents – including over 200 channels currently offered to Direct-to-Home viewers via Intelsat’s Galaxy-25 satellite in the United States.

Currently in discussion with several other major cable operators, telcos and broadband TV providers in North America, World TV draws on the broadcast expertise of GlobeCast, which is a subsidiary of France Telecom with 18 offices worldwide.  World TV also has its own team of broadcast experts –located in New York, Washington D.C., Sunrise, Florida and Los Angeles.
