Sushma Singh has been appointed the new Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. She is 1972 batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand Cadre. She has held the assignment as Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Secretary, Ministry of Development for North East Region.
The post of secretary , Information and Broadcasting had fallen vacant following the appointment of Asha Swarup as Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh.
