DAVP Advertisement Rates Hike Likely

The Government of India (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) has indicated that it is in the process of  revising the Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP) advertisemtnt rates .The Minister of Information & Broadcasting, P. R. Dasmunsi has received representations from the newspaper industry for raising the advertising rates by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP).

“I am aware of the difficulties being faced by the newspaper industry on account of rise in the prices of newsprint and the need for an upward revision of advertisement rates of DAVP. To address the issue, I am currently in the process of consultations with the stakeholders to give a final shape to the measures for providing relief to the newspaper industry. It is expected that necessary changes in the DAVP Advertisement Rates policy guidelines could be effected within a fortnight ,” P.R.Dasmunsi said.

DAVP is the key nodal agency of the Indian government advertising including public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies.As per the advertisement policy of 2006, empanelled newspapers get government advertisements as per their circulation figures for three years .
