My Games, the new BBC World News programme based on the Olympics, will broadcast live from 8 August at 1815 IST. This unique show encourages viewers from all over the world to share their enthusiasm and passion for the Olympics in a quirky and interactive manner.
Presented live from Beijing four times a week by the BBC’s Adnan Nawaz, each programme will feature people from all around the globe talking live on TV using webcams. BBC World News viewers will also be able to share their thoughts, videos and pictures via email and other interactive features.
My Games presenter Adnan Nawaz says: “This is the first time I’ve ever been in a host city while the Olympics is taking place, and Beijing looks like it’s going to be a pretty good place to start. My Games is a great platform to look at the Olympics from every possible angle. It’s an opportunity for me to capture some of the colour and excitement surrounding the Games and share it with the audience, who in turn can communicate their thoughts with BBC World News’ 78 million weekly viewers.”
The programme is supported by the BBC’s dedicated Olympics website - bbc.com/Olympics - where viewers can blog their views and keep up-to-date with the latest stories and sports results.
Adnan will also report live for BBC World News’ Sport Today and Mishal Husain will be in the Chinese capital from 6 August to present a special daily edition of World News Today. Extratime will run a week of special Olympic-related sport interviews and travel programme fast:track will be looking at what non-sport fans can enjoy in the country.
In addition, BBC World News will feature programmes looking at life in China, exploring personal stories as well as wider social issues. The Culture Show, presented by Miranda Sawyer and Tom Dyckhoff, will look at Beijing’s lively and thriving contemporary art, design, fashion and music scene. While China Reporting China is a series of four documentaries investigating different aspects of rural life in the country.
