News Limited has announced a number of senior appointments for its Queensland mastheads.
David Fagan, editor of the Courier Mail, has been promoted to editor-on-chief of Queensland Newspapers, and Michael Crutcher, the current deputy editor, will become editor of the Courier Mail.
Liz Deegan, the current editor of the Sunday Mail has been promoted to a “new, senior role” that has yet to be announced. Ms Deegan will be replaced by Scott Thompson, who is the current deputy editor.
John Hartigan, chairman and chief executive of News Limited, said the changes heralded a new era for Queensland Newspapers.
“Our Queensland titles are poised to enter a new period of growth through the development of paid content and truly integrated multi-platform publishing that will result in the full convergence of our print and digital publishing operations and greater collaboration and cooperation between the Courier-Mail and the Sunday Mail,” Mr Hartigan said.
