New Delhi: As the management of Nai Dunia on wednesday confirmed the closure of New Delhi edition , another Dunia stepped in immediately as National Dunia with almost matching masthead style .

National Dunia ( Hindi daily) has been launched by Alok Mehta himself who had joined Nai Dunia as Chief Editor in 2008.

Media industry sources say Mehta has launched National Dunia in protest as he was not happy with the management’s decision to sell the brand to the Jagaran group.

Alok Mehta in his editorial on front page said that his Dunia( world) has not changed and is still there ( Wahi Hai Ham , Wahin Hai Dunia). Interestingly enough Alok Mehta is still shown as Chief Editor of the Nai Dunia on the company’s corporate website .

There was no formal launch of National Dunia. The newspaper has been priced at Rs 3.50 and is being sold as Nai Dunia by the hawkers.

Sources said that National Dunia will be run by the same editorial team which was forced to resign at Nai Dunia.

The move has surprised the Nai Dunia readers and the management of Jagaran group too which has decided to pump Rs 300 crore to acquire the loss making Hindi media brand .

Good idea Mr Mehta ! If the closure of Nai Dunia has hurt you , the benefit is also yours !
