MovieTickets.com , the world’s most powerful Internet movie ticketing service, has partnered with its 100th theater chain, Bow Tie Cinemas. MovieTickets.com is also reporting record ticket sales for summer 2007 with a 40% increase in ticket sales from summer 2006, indicating that moviegoers are buying more movie tickets online than ever before.
The announcements come at a time when MovieTickets.com experienced a 40% increase in ticket sales from summer 2006 to summer 2007, and moviegoers are buying movie tickets online more than ever.
“With some of the nation’s finest theaters, Bow Tie Cinemas and the Moss family have a long-standing and respected relationship with the communities they serve. Our partnership comes at pivotal time, as the sheer number of theater chains coming to MovieTickets.com, along with our sales volume is further evidence that online ticketing is positively impacting our industry,” said Joel Cohen, Executive Vice President and General Manager, MovieTickets.com.
Bow Tie Cinemas, which owns and operates 115 screens in 15 locations in Connecticut, New York, Maryland and Colorado, began offering tickets exclusively through MovieTickets.com on September 7, 2007. MovieTickets.com will also serve Bow Tie’s 22 new screens in two locations in Connecticut and Virginia, which are currently being constructed. With the addition of Bow Tie, MovieTickets.com now represents 100 theater chains, about five times that of its nearest competitor.
“The mission of Bow Tie Cinemas is to return style and elegance to the movie-going experience. We are confident that MovieTickets.com will be a strong and valuable partner in helping us to fulfill that mission,” said Ben Moss, Co-Owner of Bow Tie Cinemas.
