Movies Now launches Charlie Chaplin movie in High Definition

New Delhi: MOVIES NOW, the most successful launch stories in the last year as per Ormax Media’s yearend report brings the most celebrated legend of all times, Charlie Chaplin. With his charming demeanor, legendary aura, trademark descriptive facial expressions, toothbrush moustache, bowler hat, he won over the entire world. First time ever, MOVIES NOW brings Charlie Chaplin to its viewers in High Definition. Chaplin didn’t merely make movies, he was the movies. MOVIES NOW introduces to its viewers the man who showed the world how to laugh, the man whose humour is timeless.

Charlie Chaplin begins with Modern Times where he brilliantly takes us through the journey of industrialization. He turns against modern society, the machine age and progress. We see him frantically trying to keep up with a production line, tightening bolts! He is selected for an experiment with an automatic feeding machine and a number of mishaps follow one after the other. To add to the excitement, MOVIES NOW will showcase the award winning movie, The Circus. This movie was written and directed by Chaplin himself It’s a story of a penniless and hungry Tramp (Chaplin) who is mistaken for a pickpocket and is chased by both the police and the real crook (the latter having stashed a stolen wallet and watch in the Tramp’s pocket to avoid detection). Running away, the Tramp stumbles into the middle of a performance and unknowingly becomes the hit of the show. One of Chaplin’s most commercially successful films, The Great Dictator will be showcased on MOVIES NOW on 22nd March. A comedy film which played an active role in providing relief during the world war. A little Jewish barber returns to his shop in the ghetto of a city after a prolonged lapse of perception due to an injury in the World War. He does not know that the State is under the sign of the double-cross, the all-powerful ruler of the land is one Hynkel, a megalomaniac, ruthless dictator of Tomania. There he is mistaken for Hynkel, who has simultaneously annexed this neighboring land. To know how the story unfolds, tune into MOVIES NOW on Thursday at 9 pm.

Chaplin’s masterpiece, City Lights, comes to you on 29th Mar, 9pm.This time, Chaplin’s Tramp becomes smitten with a blind flower girl who mistakes him for a wealthy duke. He then sets out to earn the money to pay for the operation that will restore her sight. Rarely has a moment in a movie touched audiences as deeply as the final scene in which the girl, now able to see, learns that her benefactor is actually the little Tramp.
