MiD DAY Becomes first QR Code Tech enabled newspaper

Mumabi : India’s leading Afternooner MiD DAY yet again Innovates to empower its readers. MiD DAY today became the first newspaper in India to integrate QR Code Technology. QR (Quick Response) code technology will allow the readers to read their copy of MiD DAY as well as view audio-visual linked file to the key stories on their cell phones.

What it means is that if readers have GPRS-enabled cell phones or BlackBerry, all they have to do is point their phones and capture the QR Code printed next to the stories. This will automatically take them to the audio visual news files.

This enabled technology truly establishes the numero uno position for MiD DAY as a multi-media company. The core TG of the brand – Young Urban Mobile Professionals across India (YUMPI) is extremely tech-savvy. Thus MiD DAY believes in constantly innovating and providing newer avenues that will only add to the experience of consuming the newspaper.

Says Manajit Ghoshal, MD & CEO MiD DAY Infomedia Limited, “MiD DAY constantly looks at new avenues to engage and entertain its readers. 2009 has been a great year of Innovations for us and with this QR Code technology enabled in the newspaper we couldn’t ask for a better start to the year 2010. You certainly can expect much more from the stable of MiD DAY this year”

Adds Nirvan Biswas, Head Online, MiD DAY Infomedia, “MiD DAY strongly believes that multi-media is the future of the company. A pictorial-heavy website, 2 Free News Alerts through SMS everyday and now QR enabled newspaper will only enhance the experience of consuming the news.”
