Mediaedge:cia (MEC), a leading media agency , has been crowned Agency of the Year in last night’s prestigious Media Week Awards.
The award caps an outstanding 18 months for MEC in which the agency has scooped huge wins such as Lloyds and Orange, and retained significant accounts including Danone and Lions Gate. This success was reflected in the judges’ decision, with MEC awarded the Agency of the Year accolade on the basis of its strong performance in a tough economic period.
MEC was also recognised for its work with Paramount around the cinema release of Paramount’s Watchmen. The agency took home the title in the Media Idea Medium category which rewards campaigns between £250k and £1m.
Tom George, Chief Executive, MEC, said: “This award tops off an exceptional and exciting period for MEC, and the recognition is fully deserved. Our success is down to the hard work and desire to win running through every single person across the agency and through the creative and innovative campaigns we create for our clients. We have excelled even in these challenging times and our aim is to continue this momentum well into 2010.”
The Agency of the Year award follows recent Media Week successes for the company, with MEC the most heavily represented agency in the annual 30 Under 30 awards, the magazine’s run down of rising talent in the media industry. MEC also scooped the lion’s share of gongs at the IPC Magazine Planning Awards, in association with Media Week, taking home a hat-trick of awards. MEC Access, the sponsorship division of MEC, also swept the board at this year’s Hollis Sponsorship Awards, taken home no less than seven gongs, included the coveted Sponsorship Agency of the Year award..
