News Corporation has announced that Marty Pompadur is stepping down as Executive Vice President of News Corporation and Chairman of News Corp. Europe. In his decade with the Company, Mr. Pompadur has been instrumental in creating three successful businesses: News Corp. Europe’s television station group in Central and Eastern Europe; its radio station group in Russia; and the leading outdoor advertising company in Russia and other emerging markets.
Mr. Pompadur will remain an external advisor to the company. The planned transition of his responsibilities began in May 2008 when News Corp. appointed Tom Mockridge Chief Executive European Television.
Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of News Corporation commented: “Marty has played an important role building unique broadcast operations in Central and Eastern Europe and the number one outdoor advertising operation in emerging Europe. We will miss him as a colleague, but wish him every success in the future.”
Mr. Pompadur said: “My initial commitment to the Company grew to last a decade. It’s been a wonderful ten years, however, at this point in my life, I have a number of personal goals yet to fulfill requiring me to step back from News Corporation.”
