Manish Mehrotra bags NDTV Good Time's ‘Foodistan’ competition

New Delhi: The verdict is out in what was truly a sizzling finale episode of Foodistan between India’s Chef Manish Mehrotra and Pakistan’s Chef Poppy Agha on NDTV Good Times. After going through a series of complex team tasks, elimination rounds, individual cook-offs and facing intense competition from both sides of the border, Chef Manish Mehrotra has emerged the winner.

Foodistan was a cook off between highly talented professional chefs from Asia’s two most culturally rich countries, India and Pakistan. The show had a total of 16 professional chefs, 8 chefs each from India and Pakistan representing their country’s rich and exquisite cuisine.

Chef Manish Mehrotra, a graduate from IHM, Mumbai, joined the Taj President, Mumbai and trained under the expert guidance of master chefs from Thailand, later joining the Old World Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. where he headed the pan Asian kitchens at Habitat World and Oriental Octopus. He has brought his unique vision and created a path-breaking menu at Indian Accent, the fine dining restaurant at The Manor, New Delhi which has been celebrated by food critics and foodies alike and has been crowned ‘The Best Modern Indian Restaurant’ in the country for many years.

Expressing his excitement on winning the show, Chef Manish Mehrotra said, “I am thrilled! The journey on the show has been amazing, there have been moments of joy, excitement, anxiety, stress, pressure but nothing beats this feeling of winning. My fellow contestants on the show have been wonderful; sharing a kitchen with a bunch of 15 extremely talented chefs has been nothing less than an absolute honour.”

Hosted by the charming Ira Dubey and the talented Aly Khan, the 26 part series had an esteemed panel of judges that includes Vir Sanghvi, avid traveller and gourmet at heart, Sonya Jehan, Bollywood actress of French-Pakistani descent and Merrilees Parker, popular British Celebrity Chef and TV show host.
