JWT Malaysia wins Cannes Young Lions YouTube competition

Out of 692 entries which were submitted from 6 continents, “LISTEN DON’T WATCH”, a video created by JWT KL’s young creatives, was chosen as 1 of 2 winners in the Youtube-Cannes Young Lions 48 Hour Ad Contest. Adeline Chew, Art Director, will represent the agency at Cannes where she will partner the other winner, Guy Dayan from Israel, to compete against 37 prestigious teams in the Young Lions Film Competition.

“Cannes Young Lions is a fantastic opportunity for rising stars to get a turbo-boost of inspiration and energy through specialized seminars, competitions and networking,” said GuanHin Tay, JWT South Asia, Regional ECD. “I am incredibly proud of the JWT Malaysia team who created a simple piece of work that takes advantage of the internet’s powerful direct response capability.”

The brief challenged young professionals around the globe to create a video that inspired viewers to show their support for an upcoming climate change agreement by adding their name to the Oxfam website. The team took a direct approach, requesting viewers to open up another tab while listening to their video.

“It’s a great achievement for our youngest team,” praised Edwin Leong, JWT Malaysia, Deputy Chairman/ECD. “We’re way past awareness of climate change, it was an elegant solution to a tired brief.”

The team was comprised of Adeline Chew (Art Director), Nadia McDonald (Writer), Sam Goh, (Art Director) and May Ling Yong (Senior Writer).
