India is adding 9 million Phone Subscribers per month and the tele density of the country is 24.63 %, a TRAI release said.
‘Total 8.74 million telephone connections have been added during January 2008 as compared to 8.11 million connections added in December 2007. The total number of telephone connections reaches 281.62 million at the end of January 2008 as compared to 272.88 million in December 2007,S.K.Gupta, Advisor TRAI said.
The overall tele-density is 24.63% at the end of January 2008 as against 23.89% in December 2007. In the wireless segment, 8.77 million subscribers are added in the month of January 2008 as against 8.17 million subscribers added in the month of December 2007.This is a highest everaddition in a month till date. The total wireless subscribers (GSM,CDMA & WLL(F)) base stood at 242.40 million at the end of January
In the wireline segment, the subscriber base has slightly decreased to 39.22 million in the month of January 2008 as against 39.25 million subscribers in December 2007.
