The unique nation-wide inter-school competition has been designed to identify potential business leaders amongst students and acknowledge probably their first business ideas.
Four finalist teams, comprisingof Uttam School for Girls, Ghaziabad (North Zone), RN Poddar School, Mumbai (West Zone), Smt. Narbada Devi J Agarwal Vivekananda Vidyalaya Jr. College, Chennai (South Zone) and Loyola School, Jamshedpur (East Zone), battled it out for the ultimate recognition.
Grand finale was judged by an esteemed panel, consisting of Senthil Chengalvarayan, Editor-in-Chief, Network18 Business Newsroom and Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education. Adrian D’Costa, General Manager Marketing,HISTORY TV18 was also present to encourage the participants.
Institutional structure of education, knowledge & understanding on the subject and dearth of early funding leave very little room for school students to think purposefully and elevate their potential business ideas. Comprehending this need for recognizing and motivating youth, HISTORY TV18 in association with NSE conceptualized ‘Young Pioneers’, to foster entrepreneurial thinking at the school level. It provided an ideal platform for young innovators and business thinkers from schools across India to converge and compete in various rounds to win the prestigious title of ‘Young Pioneers’
Now in its first season, NSE Young Pioneers reached out to over 10000 CBSE schools and many more from other educational boards. The competition received over 285 applications of which 40 entries were shortlisted. On 17th July’13, twelve semi-finalists from four regions met at NSE Mumbai and presented their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges including Mr. Suresh Venkat, Former Tech Editor, CNBC TV18 and Mr. Alok Kejriwal, CEO & Co-founder Games2win and Mr. Viren Rasquinha, former captain of India’s national field hockey team.

Globally, the History channel is known for its effective outreach programmes dedicated towards education and knowledge enrichment amongst school students. Taking forward the same philosophy in India, HISTORY TV18 spearheaded several outreach programmes, including Heritage Quiz 2012 in association with CBSE and the currently ongoing screening of the international hit series ‘Mankind – The story of us’ in several schools, including Municipal run institutes in Mumbai.
