Hanmer MS&L India, part of MS&LGroup, one of the world’s top three PR and events communications firms, has been awarded a “Stevie Distinguished Honoree” medal in the Communications or PR Campaign of the Year- Marketing and Consumer Services category by the International Business Awards for its campaign to overcome Indian cultural taboos and build the LifeCell brand, further demonstrating the agency’s strength in public affairs and health communications.
Having previously secured top honors at last year’s prestigious Asia Pacific PR Week awards with regional product development campaign of the year in the general consumer awards category, this campaign has now been recognized by the only global, all-encompassing business awards program.
Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word “crowned,” Stevie Distinguished Honorees were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in over 40 countries. The LifeCell brand campaign was awarded honoree status after two rounds of judging by global professionals.
LifeCell International is the first and largest private cord blood stem cell bank and stem cell solutions provider in India which facilitates the cryogenic preservation of umbilical cord blood stem cells. Hanmer MS&L successfully positioned LifeCell as the most preferred and reliable brand in India that provides comprehensive stem cells solutions. Hanmer MS&L was responsible for formulating and implementing various creative stakeholder engagement programs, complimented by a strong media visibility campaign across a diverse and multicultural Indian society. Customer “connect” programs such as “Future mom 2009” – a ramp walk for pregnant women and free antenatal workshops – is an example of how the agency helped to establish a strong association between the brand and the target audience.
Hanmer MS&L has been steadily growing and expanding its expertise within consumer healthcare in order to align itself with unprecedented changes within the healthcare industry. The agency navigates clients through an emergence of an empowered consumer voice, which is driving today’s healthcare reform, drug development and advocacy. Brand reputation is more important now than ever before and Hanmer MS&L specializes in leveraging non-traditional tools and channels to protect, strengthen and expand their clients’ business.
Through its commitment to creating innovative and insight-driven communications strategies, Hanmer MS&L maintains a strong consumer healthcare practice and recently added Piramal Group to its client roster. Some other recent high profile and successful public education and awareness campaigns carried out by Hanmer MS&L include the BBC World Service Trust “Condom Ringtone” campaign which aimed to remove the taboo around the word condom and Piramal Group’s “Help your Body Campaign,” a long term corporate responsibility effort against chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension & cardiovascular problems in India.
Commenting on the win, Jaideep Shergill, Chief Executive Officer, Hanmer MS&L India said, “In healthcare, a PR agency’s role is not restricted to media management but extends to helping organizations in understanding and creating demand among consumers, communicating effectively with the medical community about products, services and technological advances, developing and articulating policy and developing crisis and issues management strategies. Over the years, Hanmer MS&L has focused on creating a strong consumer healthcare practice which has consistently worked at raising the bar in the way we service our clients, with the objective of adding value to every facet of the communications effort. It indeed is a moment of pride and joy for us to win this accolade at the International Business Awards. We congratulate the team for their performance and aspire to soar higher in the days to come.”
“Despite the harsh economic climate, entries to the IBAs actually grew a bit this year, and that illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide,” said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. “We congratulate all of the honorees, and we look forward to recognizing them for their achievements at our gala awards dinner in Istanbul on 27 September.”
Mr. Mayur Abhaya, Executive Director, LifeCell International commenting on the win said, “My personal congratulations to the Hanmer MS&L team for bagging this award on behalf of LifeCell. This is the second International recognition LifeCell has received in a quick succession after the renowned Asia- Pacific PR Award in 2009, which validates and acknowledges our efforts in promoting the concept of stem cell banking in India.”
Commenting further on the win, Mr. Shergill added, “Stevie has become one of the world’s most coveted awards and winning a Stevie Distinguished Honoree medal has escalated our reputation by degrees. An honor of such global dimension has definitely encouraged us to embark on newer challenges and continue to strive for excellence.”
