Every year ‘Mirchi Activation’, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM’s on ground activation wing organises the ‘Get Active Expo’ and this year, as part of the expo, Radio Mirchi and Standard Chartered Bank in association with ‘Seeing is believing’ has organised the ‘Read for Good’ campaign. As part of the campaign, Mumbaikars are invited to come to Radio Mirchi’s stall at the expo and read a selection of books for the visually challenged. These stories will later be compiled into an ‘Audio book’ by Radio Mirchi and handed over to the Xavier’s Resource centre for Visually Challenged (XRCVC).
Through this offbeat and heart warming gesture, hundreds of visually impaired people will get a chance to enjoy stories ranging from fairy tales to stories on cricket to classics like the Panchatantra tales.
To kick-start this good deed, actors Tara Sharma and Rahul Bose visited the Mirchi stall on the first day, soon after the expo was inaugurated and read out their favourite stories, to be included in the audio book. Actor and model Milind Soman also extended his support and read some stories.
Radio Mirchi invites listeners and all those who want to make a difference to come ahead and ‘Read for good’. All you need to do is lend your voice for a few minutes at the Radio Mirchi’s stall – number 25 at World trade centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai from 13th – 16th January, 2010, 11 am to 7 pm.
