Cossette Communications announced today Bill Oberlander, 49, will join the agency as Chief Creative Officer, effective October 13. Oberlander will take the creative helm of the agency’s New York office, partnering with Sally Kennedy, President, Cossette New York.
“Bill has garnered respect as both a seasoned and visionary creative professional, and he has an extreme visual aesthetic that appeals to clients on every level,” said Kennedy, who has spent the last 15 months restructuring the agency and its service offering. “Clients are looking for a very different type of agency partner in this tumultuous economy, one who gives them a unique advantage both strategically and executionally, and I am confident Bill will help us deliver those new solutions.”
Together, Oberlander and Kennedy aim to tackle the U.S. market by building an agency with the creative cache of iconic style, underpinned with advanced business analytics. They will also draw from the resources of the global Cossette network, which boasts 800 clients and 1650 employees, as well as a 45-year heritage of Convergent Communications(TM).

Prior to joining Cossette, Oberlander enjoyed a storied career at many of the industry’s most formidable shops. He was most recently Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy and McCann, after spending 11 years at kirshenbaum bond + partners as Executive Creative Director. At McCann, Oberlander was responsible for notable work for The Ad Council and Nikon, and he previously worked on campaigns for Black & Decker, ExxonMobil and Intel.
Kennedy and Oberlander will oversee all of Cossette New York’s clients, which include Estee Lauder Companies, Carlsberg Beer, The McGraw-Hill Companies, U.S. Coast Guard, MasterCard Advisors, and National Jewish Health.
