Bernard Lo ti Rejoin CNBC Network

Singapore :CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, announced that Bernard (Bernie) Lo will rejoin the network as an anchor based out of its Hong Kong Studio. His new assignment will include coverage during core business day programming, as well as a weekly 30-minute talk show. In this new capacity, Lo will report to John Casey, VP, News and Programming for CNBC Asia.

“We have been steadily building the strongest on-air team of journalists of any network in the region over the past few years. This addition will ensure CNBC continues to best serve the Asian viewer with the most capable people in the business,” said John Casey. “Bernie’s engaging and accessible style will be a perfect complement to our already world class, award-winning team.”

Over the last 6 years, Lo has been the lead anchor on Bloomberg television, based out of Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was with CNBC, also based in Hong Kong, where he hosted several of its flagship programmes including Squawk Asia and talkshow Lo& Co.

“More than a decade ago I was part of the frontline at CNBC, spearheading coverage of the Asian Financial Crisis. Today, the financial challenges are universal and the impacts are being felt by all,” Bernie said. “More than ever, the world is watching CNBC and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to rejoin the team.”

This is the latest in a series of strategic moves for CNBC Asia over the last several months. These include the January launch of a 24-hour Korean language network in Korea (SBS-CNBC) and the announcement of a new studio at the Singapore Exchange (opening in the second quarter of 2010).

“I am thrilled to welcome Bernie back to the CNBC family,” said Satpal Brainch, President and Managing Director, CNBC Asia. “With two decades in the industry, Bernie’s experience, access and insight will be a tremendous asset to our organization. This latest move continues to highlight CNBC’s commitment to our viewers and to the region.”
