Mumbai: Enjoying his morning cup of coffee and the company of RJ Jeeturaaj, Abhishek Bachchan was in the Radio Mirchi studio this morning to talk about his latest film and the cinematic vision of the legendary Mani Ratnam. Fans across the city were charmed as Abhishek Bachchan was heard live on Mumbai’s No 1 morning show ‘Hi Mumbai’.
RJ Jeeturaaj and Abhishek Bachchan bonded over their mutual admiration for Mani Ratnam, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and the musical genius A. R. Rahman. Professing his admiration for the genius that is Mani Ratnam, Junior Bachchan said, “He is a legend. It’s always an honour to work with him. So far, I have done three films with him and each of them has helped me grow tremendously as an actor. This is a role to die for and it has been a great experience shooting for it.”
From the Mirchi listeners to RJ Jeeturaaj, everyone was floored by the Junior Bachchan’s quintessential charm as he introduced his chart-busting song ‘Masakalli’ in his unique style to Mirchi listeners.
Throwing light on his groundbreaking performance, Abhishek said, “My character is named ‘Beera Munda’ and the villagers have given me the pet name of ‘Beera’. The varied shades of my character equally fascinate and hypnotize them.”
Abhishek’s Beera is modelled on Raavan, one of the most enigmatic characters in Indian mythology. The film directed by Mani Ratnam and flaunting a power house star-cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram Kennedy, Govinda, Ravi Kishen and Priya Mani is already creating waves with its promos and songs composed by Oscar-winner A. R. Rahman.
