ASSOCHAM to organise workshop on Media INdustry

ASSOCHAM, India’s leading and oldest Apex Chamber also known as the Knowledge Chamber has been quite active in the Media and Entertainment Sector for some time now. ASSOCHAM foray into this sector was initiated with the Annual Global Summit called “FOCUS”, which has been “Officially Supported” by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, since its inception in 2007.

ASSOCHAM along with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has also been mobilizing the Indian Industries participation at the world’s largest film festival – Cannes Film Festival, France since 2009.

Based on the feedback from this Industry, ASSOCHAM along with leading global consultancy firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers proposes to organize half a day Workshop on ‘Tax Issues related to the Entertainment & Media Industry’ on Friday, 10th September, 2010, at ASSOCHAM House, 47, Prithviraj Road, New Delhi from 09:30 am concluding with Networking Lunch.

This Workshop will endeavor to address tax related issues and challenges faced by the Media & Entertainment Industry and would follow up with detailed Recommendations to be submitted to the concerned Ministries for their consideration.

Some of the issues to be addressed at this workshop are Developments in Direct Tax Framework including Transfer Pricing, special focus on impending Direct Tax Code; Developments in Indirect Tax Framework, focus on impending Goods and Services Tax (GST).

This Workshop provides a timely opportunity for the companies to share their views on the important subject in the presence of the concerned Government Officials and the Industry.
