Armin Jochum, Chief Creative Officer of BBDO Stuttgart and Berlin, Germany, will be this year’s Promo Lions Jury President at the 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
After training as a graphic designer, Armin began his career in advertising in 1988 as a Junior Art Director at The Crew and went on to become Creative Group Head at Wensauer DDB Needham in 1990, working on accounts such as Barclays Bank, Porsche and Volkswagen. Working his way up the ranks, in 1994 Armin was appointed Creative Director at H2E followed by Executive Creative Director at Leonhardt & Kern in 2003. In 2004 Armin took up the position of Chief Creative Officer for BBDO Stuttgart. Today he holds this title for both the Stuttgart and Berlin offices. As well as winning a Promo Lion in 2007, Armin has collected a number of other international and national awards along the way, such as Cannes Lions, Epica, LIAA, One Show, NY Festivals, ADC Germany. Armin is also a member of D&AD, ADC NY and ADC Germany.
Since 2004, Armin has been holding Copywriting and Integrated Ideas workshops at the Art Directors Club of Germany and at Texterschmiede in Hamburg.
“Armin is one of the new breed of emerging talents who will lead this evolving and developing Cannes category,” said Philip Thomas, Festival CEO. “We look forward to him leading the jury to uncover the world’s greatest promotional work.”
“I am incredibly proud to chair this jury,” said Armin Jochum on his appointment. “A Cannes Lion is the hardest currency for any creative person. Just as in recent years the Festival has developed in parallel with our industry, new disciplines such as promotion have also become more important.”
Introduced in 2006, Promo Lions award the freshest ideas that create an immediate activation taking into account creativity, strategy, execution and results.
