Anthony Christov and Ian Livingstone, world renowned animation and gaming experts were in India to present – Perspective, a seminar on Animation in India: Future & Careers organized by Arena Animation, a global leader in hi-end animation training. Perspectives, a symposium on ‘Animation : Future & Careers’ was held across India in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Ahmedabad & Chandigarh.
Anuj Kacker, Global Head, Arena Animation, said, “Perspectives is a series of seminars organized to create awareness among students of the unlimited career opportunities in the animation industry. The seminar offered a common platform to the aspirants and international industry professionals to share views, opinions and ideas. The established speakers gave an insight into the Animation Industry and growth and career opportunities in the field of Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects.

The two experts were specially invited to India to felicitate winners of ‘Golden Cursor Animation Awards,’ which were held on 8th May, 2009 in Mumbai and also to present a series of nation-wide seminars.
Anthony Christov, Art Director, Pixar, who weaved magic in Oscar winning animated film ‘Wall- E’, shared some of his work with the students and guided them on various issues, queries & concerns thru an interactive Question & Answer sessions. He said “Animation as a career offers immense opportunities. It is a profession which lets your creativity bloom. The joy is to work on something new everyday and to leave your mark through your work, which will be remembered & revisited probably even hundred years from now. It’s a great field to be in, which lets you explore the individual in you and exposes you to several aspects of your personality.”
Ian Livingstone, Co-founder of Games Workshop and winner of the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards demonstrated in detail the production and pre-production aspects of the making of ‘Tomb Raider’ to the audiences comprising of animation students and enthusiasts. Livingstone is of the opinion that “India has a high quality talent pool here. It is the perfect combination of great skills and low cost, but right now all of it is being used for western animation studios. Besides this, a lot of work done here is regional in content. The next step for India is to create content for the global market.”
Perspectives aims to bring together professionals from the animation community on a common platform to share their knowledge, thoughts, views and experiences of the animation industry with the students, which would enable them to think beyond the obvious and get an insight into the career options within Animation, VFX and Gaming.
