Gul Panag is in news these days for being the Cover girl of Maxim magazine. The Chandigarh girl has done a two piece photo shoot for the glossy publication to garner attention .
“About controversy, I am not aware of any!! And skin show?? Please!! When have I ever been the demure one in a sari or salwar kameez off screen?? Not more than a few times and that, too, for maintaining the sanctity of an occasion. I have always dressed in my own way –whether it’s short dresses or deep necks there’s nothing new or different and certainly no ‘intention’. I am fortunate that I have the image of a “good” and “credible” actor. And I would not want to change that. Actors take years trying to get that.As for glamour or the lack of it, I have to say it’s a complete non issue for me when choosing my roles. And just because I’ve done de glam roles in the past doesn’t make Gul, the person, de glam. I am what I am – someone who is versatile enough to be able to carry off everything ,” says the actress who is still struggling to get a place in Bollywood.
Gul was born in Chandigarh, into a 2nd generation armed forces family. She had the fortune of traveling all over the country due to her father’s frequent transfers. By the end of her schooling she had changed 14 schools! Among many Kendriya Vidyalaya’s, The Lawrence School Lovedale, she also studied in Lusaka, Zambia at the International School. She is an alumnus of the Government College for Girls, Patiala, where she pursued a BA in Mathematics and went on to do a Masters in Political Science from Punjab University Chandigarh. Gul always maintained a keen interest in sport and public speaking. She’s won many state and national level debating competitions, including gold medals twice, at the Annual National Inter University Debate.
“Right now I am engaged to three projects, namely Hello, Hello Darling and Straight. In Hello I am working with Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi, Ishaa Kopikar, Amrita Arora and Sharod Saxena. In Straight you can watch me with Vinay Pathak and in Hello Darling I am screened with Celina Jaitly, Ishaa Kopikar, Javed Jaffrey and Chunky Pandey,” Says Gul who is still struggling to find a place for her in Bollywood.
