AETN All Asia Networks Pte. Ltd. , a joint venture of A&E Television Networks and Astro All Asia Entertainment Networks Limited, has signed a carriage agreement with Taiwan Broadband Communications (TBC) to distribute AAAN’s bouquet of factual channels consisting of HISTORY HD, HISTORY, The Biography Channel, and Crime & Investigation Network.

The channels will launch in June 2009, and will be fully subtitled in Chinese.

Entering the Taiwan market for the first time, Louis Boswell, General Manager of AAAN, said, “Taiwan is a strategically important market for us. We believe there is real momentum now in the migration from analogue to digital services, and we are very happy to announce our launch on TBC. We are very excited that TV viewers in Taiwan will now have the opportunity to watch our four high quality channels, which showcase the very best in factual entertainment.”

“TBC’s digital relaunch in March this year underscores our commitment to deliver a world-class digital TV experience to our customers. Hence we chose to adopt the latest MPEG 4 technology for our platform, as well as to only deploy HD set top boxes to all our digital customers. Of course, no platform is complete without quality content. TBC is pleased to partner with AAAN to be the first to air their suite of 4 world-renowned channels including History HD, which have never been seen in Taiwan before. We believe this will greatly enrich TBC’s digital TV proposition for our customers,” said Loke Kheng Tham, President of Taiwan Broadband Communications.
