‘Hum Dono’ music re-launched on Mirchi’s Purani Jeans

Mumbai : As you await the release of the Navketan Films’ iconic film ‘Hum Dono’ in colour on 4th Feb, Radio Mirchi listeners witnessed a historical moment on Mirchi’s popular retro show, ‘Purani Jeans with Anmol’, when the legendary superstar Dev Anand re-launched the eternal melodies of the blockbuster movie. 50 years after the film was released, Dev Saab himself unveiled the ‘Hum Dono Rangeen’ CD at the Mirchi studio.

On air, everyone’s favourite Dev Saab recounted his experiences while shooting for ‘Hum Dono’ and even hummed the evergreen track, “Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya”. The young at heart Dev Anand was heard chatting with RJ Anmol and regaling Mirchi listeners in his trademark manner. RJ Anmol was thrilled when the legend himself showered praises on him and said that he loved his style of RJing.

Sharing personal anecdotes on ‘Hum Dono’ the veteran actor said, “Hum Dono was one of the biggest hits of its time. I played a double role for the first time in this movie. With its super hit melodies, great acting, superb direction, ‘Hum Dono’ is a landmark in the history of Indian cinema”. From RJ Anmol to Mirchi listeners, everyone was deeply moved when Dev Saab got emotional as the poignant song, ‘Kabhi Khud pe rona aaya’ was played on air. Memories were relived, the golden era was revisited again as the blockbuster hits of ‘Hum Dono’ were played on air.

‘Hum Dono Rangeen’, the new album created by Saregama, is a special musical treat for all the connoisseurs of golden hits, as it packs several exceptional features in the CD. Re-launched for the first time ever in stereo sound, the compilation also has Dev Saab recounting his experiences while shooting for each song. The CD also flaunts a set of caller-tones for fans to set their phones to.
