Digital technology leader, Samsung India has announced the appointment of Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra as Brand Ambassador for its Consumer Electronics business in India. Announcing Abhinav Bindra as SAMSUNG’s Ambassador for the CE category, states Mr. H. B. Lee, President & CEO, SAMSUNG South West Asia Headquarters, “The SAMSUNG brand stands for qualities of innovation and excellence in performance. And these very same qualities are epitomized by Abhinav Bindra, whose Olympic Gold medal feat has made him a youth icon today. We are indeed very proud and privileged to have him as our Brand Ambassador for our Consumer Electronics Business.”
The Company plans to leverage Abhinav in its brand advertising as well as product advertising for Consumer Electronics. In Sync with its thrust on introducing innovative, consumer oriented, breakthrough technology products, SAMSUNG will unveil its first product ad campaign with Abhinav Bindra for LCD TVs.
Samsung India currently has a range of over 30 LCD models in 22” to 70” screen size, priced in the range between Rs.19,000/- to Rs.24,00,000/-. “With Abhinav Bindra as our brand ambassador, our strong, differentiated product lineup and our enhanced distribution reach, I am confident that we will further strengthen our position in the Indian market .” states Mr R Zutshi, Dy Managing Director, Samsung India Electronics Ltd. Commencing this weekend, Samsung India will be rolling out a pan India print, outdoor Campaign featuring Abhinav Bindra. The TV Campaign will be released in the following week.
Speaking on the occasion of the Signing Ceremony Abhinav Bindra said, “I am very proud to be associated with a Global brand like Samsung, that is not only recognized for its technological leadership but also its commitment to global sporting events like Olympics. Samsung products epitomize the best in technology, design and quality and I am indeed delighted to be endorsing the best.” Abhinav Bindra was the Samsung Olympic Ratna for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
The first Campaign with Abhinav is for Samsung LCD TVs. Samsung currently has four LCD TV Series in the Indian market; Full HD Series 6 and 5 and HD ready Series 4 and 3 in the Indian market. Samsung’s Series 6 marks the first appearance of Crystal design in the 2008 LCD HDTV line-up. Samsung, which is a global leader in LCD TVs, is also a market leader in the Indian market. The Company expects to achieve a 45% market share in the Indian market by the end of the Year. Samsung has a range of 16 LCD models in the price range between 22” to 70” screen size, priced in the range between Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 24,00,000/-.
