Mumbai : The Radio Mirchi studio was abuzz with excitement as debutante director Kiran Rao and superstar Aamir Khan walked into the Mirchi studio at 8:30am sharp and were on air on Mumbai’s leading morning show, ‘Hi Mumbai’. ‘Dhobi Ghat’ was the flavour of the morning as they chatted with RJ Jeeturaaj about their upcoming film.
In a relaxed and candid conversation, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had a great time on air talking about the film, the actors and the eternal charm of Mumbai. RJ Jeeturaaj was thrilled when Kiran Rao revealed that she had been an RJ in Delhi! Talking about her maiden directorial venture, Kiran said, “Mumbai is one of the most important characters in the movie”. They talked about their experience of shooting at dhobi ghat and the great time they had doing so. The high point for Mirchi listeners was when they heard the much in love couple, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao sing for each other live on air!
For the last few days, Radio Mirchi had organized a fun contest where Mirchi listeners were invited to share photographs of the city they love and live in – Mumbai. Mirchi listeners were asked to uploaded their photographs on the Mirchi facebook page. The response was tremendous as Mirchi listeners shared some great shots of their favourite city. Aamir and Kiran sifted through the creative photographs and selected Mirchi listener, Shalini Rao’s photograph titled ‘Crackin Up’ as the winner. Shalini Rao’s day was made as she got a chance to meet Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao at the Mirchi studio.
‘Dhobi Ghat’ chronicles the lives of four individuals in the lively, pulsating city of Mumbai and the hopes, dreams, ambitions, adventure and experiences they cherish. Directed by talented Kiran Rao, the film stars an eclectic cast of Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra and Kriti Malhotra.
The film is set to release this Friday on 21st Jan, 2011.
